Experts predict that, unless we intervene now, by 2040 the percentage of women employed in the tech and digital industries will be just 1%.
As the influence of the tech and digital sector increases within the UK economy, having so few women working in this sector will have a huge impact on the employability of half the workforce!
Thankfully, there are some organisations who are working to tackling this challenge head on. The TechSheCan charter, launched by PwC, is a commitment by organisations to work together to increase the number of women working in technology roles in the UK. It aims to tackle the root cause of the problem at a societal level; by inspiring and educating young girls and women to get into tech careers and sharing best practice across the organisations involved.
We at Autumn Live are passionate about equality, education, inspiration and technology so we were naturally eager to support the Tech She Can charter.
We have a couple of really exciting programmes that are in development stage that we can’t wait to reveal, they are all supportive of the Tech She Can charter and you’ll be first to hear about them.
Whilst you eagerly await our programme announcements, why not have a look at what another TechSheCan charter supporter InnovateHer is doing across the UK?
Our director, Jan is attending a meeting this week with the TechSheCan team and is really looking forward to meeting the other organisations who are part of the charter.
